1995 Changed my World
1995 was a long time ago. I have had four homes in two countries since then, but the year sticks out in my mind. This was the year that I realized animation wasn’t just for kids.
Pixar changed the world of movies by releasing the first ever, feature length CGI movie. Yes, there was a bit of controversy over the Brazilian made Cassiopeia released six months later, but Toy Story is credited with this honor. Not only did Pixar change the status quo, but they filled their trophy cabinet in the process, winning Academy Awards, Golden Globes, BAFTA’s and Annie Awards, amongst others.
Had it not been for the success of this movie, would we have been lucky enough to enjoy the wonders of Shrek, Finding Nemo, Monsters Inc or The Incredibles? All of these make it to my favorite list.
