Make Your Own

Many times, I have watched a video and wished I could make something just like that… and now you can. It is no secret that I am a huge fan of the animation website, aniboom – many of the videos posted here were found on their site, and I love the interface and tools. This morning, this video got my attention.

Vodpod videos no longer available.

If it takes a while to load, be patient, it’s worth the wait!

Using the ShapeShifter tool on their website, users can make animation and the results are pretty impressive. I am blown away by the work this animator, Seth Taylor, has put on the site. The animation above is amazing, but not my favorite of his, but have a look at this short film using the ‘wire frame’ option on the actual site (direct link) and prepare to be impressed. His attention to detail leaves me speechless.

His other animations are mind blowing, he has a great talent for animated Japanese style art, and his three part series ‘the Dragon’ is something I look forward to seeing the finished product of. This guy deserves some series props, I am impressed by his work, and I hope, somehow, this review of his stuff reaches his attention.

For good animation, check out this guys profile page and let’s show him some love!

Great work is ALWAYS the result of years of determined practice. You can also do this, if you work hard on getting the skills. The key is to enjoy the whole road towards becoming a highly skilled artist, and take your time in getting better at all the aspects of the art. If there’s one thing I’ve learned from studying art school for 4 years, it’s that talent is perhaps only 10% of success. Talent without work will never thrive.
